Slime is a nationwide epidemic, causing parents to get obscene amounts of Elmer’s glue and gather, incessantly drunk, in the laundry aisle as they hunt for the last box of borax at Target at 10:00. You’ll need some glue (good luck finding it – just buy it online for your sanity), shaving cream (I like it on sensitive skin types because it doesn’t smell like the teenage kid who discovered Ax body spray after gym class), saline (make sure it has boric acid in the ingredients – most in the US do), water, and borax.

To make the borax solution, dissolve 3/4 teaspoon of borax powder in 1/4 cup of hot water (you will need to stir it vigorously to dissolve it.)

In a large mixing bowl, mix the glue and 1 cup of water. If you want to add food coloring, this is the best time.

It’s also a good time to add in different mixes like extra glitter, mica powder or foam balls for a “crunchy” slime.

But you may want to wait and let the kids add whatever they want after the slime is mixed; It is more difficult to integrate.

If you want a little more intensity, you can add a spoonful of salt water, but start small and add little by little as you go. If you want to add to your mix now, go for it – for this little batch, we’re making small styrofoam balls to create what the slime-iverse refers to as “crunchy slime.”

Over time, the fluff will deflate. Store in an airtight container. Sputum left alone in an air-tight container will have a nice, smooth, runny consistency after about a week.
